An FTIR spectrometer rapidly (less than five minutes) collects high-resolution spectral data over the IR region. With calibrations using X-ray Diffraction and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) data, percentages of mineral groups, including carbonates, quartz, feldspars, and clays, as well as organics, respectively, can be estimated.
