The hiDRILL wellSIM is a world leading drilling simulator. It offers a unique downhole and topside dynamic modelling and visualization in real time, which reacts to the crew input as it is offshore. Its realism has been proven through years of field verification. To achieve this result, Oiltec Solutions has, in cooperation with SINTEF (Sintef Petroleum research AS) and eDrilling, spent years of modelling and software development to develop the first “Top of the Derrrick to the Drillbit”, fully visualized and real time topside and downhole simulator.
Our simulator is aimed at challenging drilling and well operations, and is able to handle advanced and unconventional operations. Our simulator can be set up to meet any demand (client specific procedures, well data, team behaviour) and its well design can be tailored. With our programs, they will test their abilities to work together, and their skills on well data interpretation under stress.

Oiltec Solutions’ Drilling Academy (previously known as Drilling & Well Competence Academy) provides two training hubs, located in Stavanger (Norway) and Houston (USA). Our fixed facilities are equipped with our dynamic hiDRILL wellSIM simulators, enabling to meet your offshore challenges with the best solution on the market. We also have mobile drilling simulators (MDS), fully equipped (driller and assistant driller chairs with touch screens and 3-screen visual theatre), allowing you to train your crews on-site with our hiDRILL wellSIM simulator.
Key simulation features
1. The hydraulic flow module calculates the effect of the hydraulics throughout the circulation system. This model is ensuring we get the correct output values to the downhole torque and drag model.
2. The downhole torque and drag module is already in use in offshore installations and as such is a valued and effective system. The system ensures a real-time feedback, giving operators an early warning system of issues in the well.
3. The topside model consists of driller and assistant driller chairs, a large visualization of the drill floor and derrick as well as several separate monitors, with details of pumps, valves, etc.
