SureSight DTS Cable
Distributed Temperature Sensing Fibre Optic Cable

The SureSight™ permanent cable range is based on a pre-installed fixed cable construction to provide operators with a clear insight into reservoir activity.

Cable Construction
The fixed cable construction (as opposed to pumped fibre installation) of Tendeka‘s SureSight cables makes them mechanically strong, corrosion resistant and, where needed, protected against hydrogen ingress.

Their construction is based on a dual-barrier design. The inner metal tube contains two fibres, enabling double ended measurements and redundancy with minimal material costs.

A layer of hydrogen scavenging gel and an outer metal tube protect this inner core. Additional safeguards often include filling the space between the tubes with a polymer filler. Encapsulation polymers are currently available for operating temperatures up to 170°C. Where cables are required to exceed this temperature, they are constructed solely of metal.

Fibre and alloy selections depend on well conditions and temperature during operation.

Fibre Coatings & Composition
SureSight cables use the latest generation of optical fibres to achieve a carefully managed balance between eliminating dopants to prevent hydrogen darkening, and maintaining optimum optical performance. The majority of SureSight fibres are multimode, but in certain cases Tendeka is also able to provide pure core singlemode fibres.

The fibre is protected by one or more coatings to ensure operation at the required temperature range and provide further protection against hydrogen ingress.

Downhole component technology
Tendeka‘s unique downhole in-line splice technology enables a cable to pass through packers, safety valves and other in-well components. The SureSight cable does not need to be pre-terminated using complex connector assemblies.

SureSight has been designed for rapid assembly and field installation to minimise rig downtime and can be deployed in any section of the completion. What‘s more, in case of accidental damage the cable can be repaired at the well site without any interruption to operation.

Tendeka can also provide all clamps and cable equipment for both single and dual ended fibre applications including the MiniBend™. This fibre optic component employs revolutionary technology to allow for a single-mode fibre to be formed at a 180o bend with a 1mm fibre bend diameter, saving space and reducing potential fibre damage.
