The Tendeka electrical monitoring system comprises a range of downhole pressure gauges and surface equipment, which provide high-resolution permanent monitoring of well pressure, temperature and performance.
Surface Acquisition Unit
The compact Tendeka surface acquisition unit (SAU) provides power and communications to downhole gauges.
In addition to 4-line display, the unit can also communicate over USB and RS-485, supporting the MODBUS protocol and allowing for easy interfacing with real time SCADA control systems. Where no real-time data interface is available, the unit can store up to 2GB of data.
The SAU is designed specifically for use with Tendeka’s conventional permanent down-hole gauge (PDHG) monitoring system.
Weighing less than 3.2kg, the SAU is simple to mount inside a junction box or instrument room and uses minimum power consumption (12W). Fully operational across a wide temperature range (-40°C to +60°C), installation in remote remote locations with minimal surface infrastructure is a real possibility.
The SAU is connected to the wellhead outlet using a dual conductor marine cable and supports all Tendeka’s conventional PDHG systems, including Sapphire and Quartz, in single or multiple gauge mode.
The conventional technology gauge carrier has a hydraulic connection through the tubing wall to the externally mounted gauge, and another connecting the gauge to the TEC from the surface.
Our new communications backbone for permanent and semi-permanent downhole sensors can support multiple addressable sensors on a single conductor tube wire. It supports bi-directional communication, delivers the ability to remove a sensor or gauge from the line, and enables monitoring of multiple zones. This assists with redundancy and integration, without the cost and risk associated with running multiple lines.
The unit is available in both AC and DC powered modes, the latter being suitable for use with solar power systems.
System Features
•Provides power and acts as a memory for downhole gauges in permanent completions, as well as providing the communications hub for SCADA or real-time transmission
•Links tools downhole though the TEC and WHO. The SAU can be powered using rig power, solar or wind turbine type supplies
•Can be used to program and interrogate the downhole permanent pressure gauges
